Prolotherapy

What Is Prolotherapy?
By definition, it is an injection that causes growth and in turn, repair connective tissue such as ligaments, tendons, or cartilage. Prolotherapy is essentially an irritant that will be injected to kick-start the body's own healing response.
How Does Prolotherapy Work?
The patient is injected with dextrose concentration 12.5% to 25% + an anesthetic. Dextrose at these percentages stimulates a short inflammation in the area at which it was injected. This starts a repair cascade to heal the damaged area. The end product is a stronger and tighter tissue, healed injury, and decreased pain.
What Is Perineural Subcutaneous Injections (PSI)?
Perineural subcutaneous injections (PSI) are a 5% buffered dextrose solution injected under the skin (subcutaneous) to treat nerve pain. It is injected in close proximity to superficial nerve endings, thus effectively targeting the inflammatory response produced by sensory nerves.
How Does Perineural Subcutaneous Injections (PSI) Work?
This procedure is specifically used for conditions suffering from neuropathic inflammation. PSI injections work by injecting the buffered 5% dextrose solution in close proximity to superficial nerve endings. The injection is only about 1/2 an inch below the skin and the response to PSI is near instant pain relief!

What Is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)?
Blood has three major types of cells, which are red blood cells, white cells, and platelets. Platelets are the cells that help blood clot and help the body heal from injury. Furthermore, Platelets have different proteins, which include growth factors, which help control inflammation and heal the body from injury.
How Does Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Work?
When there is an injury to an area in the body, platelets are quickly produced and sent to the injured area. They are the first responders which initiate the healing cascade to grow new tissue, and release other proteins which help recruit more cells ultimately help to heal the injured area. During a PRP injection, the patient’s own blood is processed in a specific manner that concentrates these platelet cells. These are then injected into the affected area, which bind to the damaged tissue, and further release growth factors, which stimulate the body’s natural healing response.

Myofascial Release Therapy (MFR):
Patients who suffer with pain or lack of motion may be having fascial problems that go undiagnosed. These individuals need to know about Myofascial Release Therapy.
What is Fascia and Why is it Important?
Fascia is a tough connective tissue surrounding every cell from head to toe, like a three-dimensional web. It provides support and flexibility to all structures of the body. The fascia is manipulated, directly or indirectly, which allows the connective tissue fibers to reorganize themselves in a more flexible, functional fashion. Releasing restrictions in the fascia can be the missing link in resolving problematic cases of pain and dysfunction.
What is Myofascial Release?
Myofascial Release is a hands-on approach used to loosen fascial restrictions throughout the body. The therapist releases the tight fascia by applying sustained pressure into the fascial barrier or area of restriction, allowing permanent elongation of the tissues.

What are the benefits of Myofascial Release and Myofascial Massage?
As fascial layers are released, the patient gains greater flexibility. This results in decreased pain, enhanced daily functional abilities, refined athletic performance, increased ease of movement and improved structural balance and integrity.
